After I created this video, I did a little more digging. I found that this study was done by three professors. Their conclusion in a nutshell? The price a buyer is willing to pay for a home is not significantly influenced by staging, BUT neutral wall colors and a well-furnished home will “significantly influence a buyer’s perceived livability and overall opinion of the home.”
Therefore, while you may not be able to get more money for a staged home, you are more likely to get it sold more quickly than one that is not staged. While price is often top of mind for sellers, speed of the transaction matters, too.
